Intel, 2nd Gen Bonanza Mine Chip for BTC Mining

The ISSCC 2022 (International Solid State Circuits Conference), which will be held between February 20 and 24, has started. At the event, Intel also detailed its new Bitcoin (BTC) mining chip, the 2nd generation Bonanza Mine ASICs.

2nd Generation Bonanza Mine for BTC Mining from Intel

Technology giant Intel detailed the 2nd generation Bonanze Mine chip to be used in Bitcoin (BTC) mining at the ISSCC 2022 event. According to the shared information, Bonanze Mine (BMZ2) can offer 40 Terahash performance. Intel wants to fight strong competitors such as Nvidia, MicroBT and Bitmain with its new generation player. The BMZ2, which is expected to follow a similar architecture with the 1st generation chip, comes with an energy consumption of 56.97 joules per terahash.

Intel needs to be much more competitive against existing miners from Bitmain and MicroBT. When we look at Bitmain's Antmienr S19j Pro 104T model, we see a data of 104 THash/s at 3,068W. In Intel's new generation processor, this is 40 THash/s at 3,600W. The situation is even different with Bitmain's newest model, the S19j XP. The S19j XP stands out with 140 THash/s at 3,010W.

The official launch date for the 2nd generation Bonanze Mine, whose details have been revealed, is not yet clear.
